SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University swim teams split with King on Monday afternoon, the men's team fell 142-108, while the women's team won 168-77.
On the women's side, Milly Byrne,
Julia Beebe,
Alison Ludeman, and
Sofiya Gobora were the top finishers for the Valkyries on Monday afternoon. Byrne won four total events and posted a second place finish, finishing with 22 total points. Beebe helped the Valkyries win four total events and a third place finish, tallying 21 total points on the day. Ludeman finished with three total event wins, one second place finish and one third place, to tally 16 total points. Gobora finished with three event wins and a pair of third place finishes, tallying 15 total points.
On the men's side,
Henry Stockton,
Tyler Leal,
Alexander Kuznetsov, and
Joey Lilley were the top performers for the Valkyries. Stockton finished with three event wins, one second place finish and one third place finish, tallying 21 total points. Leal finished with one event win, two second place finishes, and two third place finishes, tallying 15 total points. Kuznetsov finished with two event wins, one second place finish, and tallied 13 points. Lilley finished with four second place finishes and tallied 10 total points.
Women's Notes:
- The 4x400 relay team of Sofia Gobora, Ember Hill, Katie Beebe, and Alison Ludeman won the opening race of the afternoon with a time of 4:09.72.
- In the 200 free event, Julia Beebe and Katie Mullen finished first and second in the event. Beebe won the event with a time of 2:01.63, while Mullen finished close behind in second place with a time of 2:07.57.
- Kaitlin Williams finished fourth in the event for the Valkyries, while Marie Durflinger finished eighth overall in the 200 free event.
- The Valkyries swept the podium in the 50 back event with Milly Byrne, Ludeman, and Gobora finishing in first, second, and third place respectively. Byrne won the event with a time of 28.59 seconds.
- Ember Hill won the 50 breast event with a time of 33.23 seconds. Katie Mullen finished fourth with a time of 35.72 seconds, and Mayle Iwanski finished fifth with a time of 37.50 seconds.
- Katie Beebe won the 200 fly event with a time 2:18.87, and Kate Hollingsworth finished third in the event with a time of 2:29.53.
- Ludeman won the 50 free event with a time of 25.61 seconds, Julia Beebe finished third on the team with 26.24, Katie Beebe finished fifth with a time of 26.49, Katie Mullen finished sixth with a time of 26.93 seconds, and Marie Durflinger finished 12th with a time of 29.14 seconds.
- The 200 medley relay team of Byrne, Hill, Kaitlin Williams, and Katie Mullen won the event with a time of 1:57.90.
- Byrne won the 200 back event with a time of 2:14.16 and Gobora finished third with a time of 2:21.74.
- Ember Hill finished second in the 200 Breast event with a time of 2:37.25 and Kate Hollingsworth finished fourth with a time of 2:41.89.
- Julia Beebe and Williams finished first and second in the 500 free event. Beebe won the event with a total time of 5:31.07, and Williams finished with a total time of 5:39.75.
- The trio of Gobora, Katie Beebe, and Ludeman swept the podium in the 50 fly event. Gobora clocked a total time of 28.03 seconds, Beebe finished with a time of 28.30 seconds, and Ludeman finished with a time of 28.37 seconds.
- The 200 free relay team of Iwanski, Julia Beebe, Byrne and Gobora won the event with a time of 1:45.24.
- Byrne finished second in the 200 IM event with a time of 2:18.69, Hollingsworth finished fourth in the event with a time of 2:29.74, and Hill finished fifth with a time of 2:30.61.
- The Valkyries finished first and third in the 400 free relay event. The Valkyries A team of Ludeman, Mullen, Beebe, and Beebe won the event with a total time 3:49.89.
Men's Notes:
- The 4x400 relay team of Joey Lilley, Tyler Leal, Alexander Kuznetsov, and Keith Rogers finished second in the event with a time of 3:38.15. King won the event with a total time of 3:31.72.
- Henry Stockton won the 200 free event with a time of 1:45.05, Henry Winstead finished fifth overall and Rogers finished sixth overall for the Valkyries.
- In the men's 50 back event, the Valkyries finished second, third, fourth, and fifth in the event. Lilley finished second with a total time of 25.59 seconds, while Micah Lesley rounded out the podium with a third place finish in a time of 27.25 seconds.
- Leal won the 50 breast event with a time of 27.79 seconds, Manny Schlichtmann finished fifth in the event with a time of 31.01 seconds, and Jaxon Tschikof finished sixth overall with a time of 31.93 seconds.
- Kuznetsov won the 200 fly event with a time of 2:02.37, Ryan Hunt finished third with a time of 2:10.42, Kir Lyzhin finished fourth overall with a time of 2:13.03, and Lesley finished fifth with a time of 2:23.64.
- Henry Stockton finished third in the 50 free event with a time of 22.27 seconds, Joey Lilley finished fourth with a time of 22.35 seconds, Keith Rogers finished fifth with a time of 22.42 seconds, and Henry Winstead finished ninth with a time of 24.54 seconds.
- In the 200 back event, Lilley finished second with a time of 2:06.42, Lyzhin finished third with a time of 2:12.95, and Kuznetsov finished fourth with a time of 2:16.80.
- Leal finished third with a time of 2:17.04, Davis Dial finished fourth with a time of 2:28.45, Manny Schlichtmann finished fifth with a time of 2:32.51, and Tschikof finished sixth with a time of 2:36.89.
- Stockton won the 500 free event with a time of 4:49.87, Rogers finished fourth in the event with a time of 5:17.48, and Winstead finished fifth with a time of 5:17.60.
- Leal finished third in the 50 fly event with a time of 24.04 seconds, Kuznetsov finished fourth in the event with a time of 24.48 seconds, and Hunt finished fifth with a time of 24.59 seconds.
- The 200 free relay team of Kuznetsov, Hunt, Lesley, and Stockton won the event with a time of 1:31.09.
- Dial finished fourth in the 200 IM event with a time of 2:11.93, Tschikof finished fifth with a time of 2:28.11, and Schlichtmann finished sixth with a time of 2:36.19.
- The Valkyries 400 relay team of Lilley, Rogers, Leal, and Stockton finished second with a time of 3:17.87, and the B team finished fourth with a time of 3:29.00.

- The Valkyries swim team will be back in action on January 11th in a quad-meet against Barton, Emmanuel, and UNC Pembroke. The event will start at 11:00 a.m. inside the Montgomery Student Center.
