HICKORY, N.C. – The Converse University swim teams split with Lenoir-Rhyne on Friday afternoon, the men's team fell 109-96, while the women's team won 120-83.
On the women's side the Valkyries dominated from start to finish. The women's team won both the 200 medley relay event (1:54.98) and the 400 free relay event with a time of 3:45.82.
Alison Ludeman won both the 200 free (1:58.33) and 100 free (54.72). In the 50 free event, the Valkyries trio of Katie Beebe,
Sofiya Gobora, and
Ansley Young swept the podium in first, second, and third.
The men's meet came down to the last relay event of the night, where the Bears just narrowly edged out the Valkyries. The men's 200 medley relay team of
Joey Lilley,
Tyler Leal,
Louis Milczynski, and
Daniel Merzthal came in first with a time of 1:37.52.
Henry Stockton won the 200 free event with a time of 1:45.65,
Louis Milczynski won the 200 IM event with a time of 2:00.82, and
Joey Lilley won the 200 back event with a time of 2:02.73.
Women's Notes:
- Kaitlin Williams won the 1,000 free event with a time of 11:54.84 and Jessica Kochert finished third in the event with a time of 13:03.35.
- Julia Beebe finished third in the 200 free event with a time of 2:04.06 and Mayle Iwanski finished fifth in the event with a time of 2:11.71.
- In the 200 IM event, Ember Hill finished third with a time of 2:25.31, Katie Mullen placed fourth with a time of 2:25.56, Kate Hollingsworth placed sixth with a time of 2:27.57.
- Katie Beebe won the 200 fly event with a time of 2:21.54, and Iwanski finished seconds behind in the event with a time of 2:26.22.
- Katie Mullen, finished fourth in the 100 free event with a time of 59.34 seconds. Marie Durflinger finished close behind in the event with a time of 1:05.97.
- In the 200 back event, Milly Byrne finished second in the event with a time of 2:14.54, Ansley Young finished third with a time of 2:19.94, and Sofiya Gobora finished fifth with a time of 2:24.38.
- Julia Beebe won the 500 free event with a time of 5:30.97, Kaitlin Williams finished third with a time of 5:47.13, and Jessica Kochert finished sixth with a time of 6:28.35.
- Ember Hill placed third in the 200 Breast event with a time of 2:35.66, and Hollingsworth finished fourth in the event with a time of 2:42.69.

- Micah Lesley finished second in the 1,000 free event with a time of 10:46.26, Kirill Lyzhin finished third in the event with a time of 10:54.99, and Henry Winstead finished fourth in the event with a time of 11:23.22.
- Alexander Kuznetsov finished third in the 200 free event with a time of 1:53.09 and Ryan Hunt finished fourth in the event with a time of 1:53.71.
- In the 50 free event, Keith Rogers finished second in the event with a time of 22.41 seconds. Daniel Merzthal finished third in the event with a time of 22.44, and Tyler Leal finished fourth in the event with 22.80.
- In the men's 200 IM event, Luigi Ballivian finished fifth with a time of 2:12.41, Davis Dial finished sixth with a time of 2:16.80, and Jaxon Tschikof finished seventh with a time of 2:23.21.
- Kuznetsov finished second in the 200 fly event with a time of 2:02.05, Hunt finished third in the event with a time of 2:13.72, and Dial finished firth with a time of 2:23.08.
- Rogers finished third in the 100 free event with a time of 49.64, Milczynski finished fourth with a time of 50.47 seconds, Henry Winstead finished sixth with a time of 52.94 seconds, and Manny Schlichtmann finished seventh with a time of 59.59 seconds.
- Stockton finished second in the 500 free event with a time of 4:56.23, Micah Lesley finished third in the event with a time of 5:15.49, and Luigi Ballivian finished fourth with a time of 5:26.10.
- Tyler Leal finished second in the 200 breast event with a time of 2:19.09, Jaxon Tschikof finished fifth with a time of 2:28.04, and Schlichtmann finished sixth with a time of 2:34.32.
