SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University Men's and Women's Track teams finish strong at the Liberty Challenge Meet on Saturday.

Womens Notes:
In the 60m, Semi-Finals Prelims
Eseose Okoduwa finished 2nd (7.66) and Kamile Cunningham finished 6th (7.75). Eseose also finished the finals in 3rd in 7.63 and Cunningham in 8th in 7.79. Both are ranked 2nd and 3rd in the 60m within the conference.
In the 400m, Bethel finished 7th in a new school record time and personal record of (58.85). In the 800m,
Bayley Robinson finished 18th (2:24.15) boosting herself into the top 5 in the Conference Carolinas.
In the Mile Spijker finished 10th (5:19.21),
Kamille Dixon finished 13th (5:21.77), and
Lauren Beatty finished 15th (5:22.93) a valuable race as all three are ranked in scoring position within the conference rankings. Rounding out the pack was
Froukje Mons who finished 21st (5:25.38), and
Ashley Sosa finished 25th (5:27.47). All 5 ran the conference standard of 5:40.40.
In the 3000m, Beatty finished 6th (10:32.97), Sosa finished 7th (10:35.82), Mons finished 8th (10:38.48), and Dixon finished 12th (10:49.50) all four have put themselves in scoring position within the conference with Sosa and Beatty being ranked 2nd and 3rd. All four easily eclipsed the conference qualifying time of 11:18.90.
In the 60m Hurdles,
Phoebe Myers would put herself back in medal contention within the conference rankings after running a season-best of 9.13, after time off from a foot injury. She would go on to the finals and finish in a time of 9.27.
In the High Jump, D'asia Thomas finished 6th (1.52m). In the Long Jump, Okoduwa finished 5th (5.50m). In the Triple Jump Mackenzie Whiteside finished 8th (10.85m), Warren finished 11th (10.74m), and
Janyia Pinckney qualified for her first conference championship in a mark-off (10.55m). Rounding up the women's events notes in the Weight Throw,
Bella Martin finished 8th (15.82m) which would be a new school record and personal record for the sophomore.
Mens Notes:
In the 60m, Semi-Finals Prelims Gavin Mcfadden finished 9th (6.94 heat 2) and
Dorian Bomar finished 9th (6.94 heat 3). In the 200m, Mcfadden finished 5th (21.89) a mark that has him sitting 2nd in the conference in the 200m. Mcfadden established himself earlier in the year in the 60m with a top conference time of 6.84. Bomar finished 17th (22.32) in a conference qualifying time of 22.32. The time was also a personal best for the freshman from Spartanburg, SC.
In the 400m, Glenn finished 7th (50.55)in a new school record and personal record. Freshman
Mason Watson finished 16th (51.27) a new personal record. In the 800m,
Alain Flores finished 28th (2:00.46) a new school record after running the mile earlier in the day.,
Nathan Lucy finished 36th (2:01.81).
In the 5000m,
Luis Rios Brena finished 5th (15:16.89) and narrowly missed his own school record time of 15:12.81. The time was the second fastest time in school history. Alexander Sosa finished 11th (15:44.27). In the 60m Hurdles,
Donald Medley ran a school record of (8.87) to qualify for the semifinals where he ran 8.86.
Aubrey Hemphill would take home two school records on the weekend. Rounding out the men's notes is the Shot Put where
Aubrey Hemphill finished 6th (12.36m) and in the Weight Throw Hemphill finished 22nd (12.94m).
Overall the Valkyries broke 7 school records and had numerous conference qualifying marks.
Their next stop will be the Conference Carolina's Indoor Conference championship on February 18-19 at JDL in Winston Salem, NC.
