Valkyries Light Up Electric City Invitational

ANDERSON, S.C. – Outdoor track season continued for the Converse University track & field teams this past weekend at the Electric City Invitational hosted by Anderson University.

Men's Notes:

Senior Devron Davis led the way for the Valkyries with a 10.57 in the 100-meter dash. He placed second at the meet. Freshman Xavier Dixon and sophomore Dre'Kevan Thomas followed closely behind in fourth and fifth, respectively, running times of 10.76 and 10.79.
Junior Denard White ran a 52.29 400 meters, placing 26th.
Freshman Benjamin Notarangelo took home fifth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:58.38. Sophomore Reece Evans finished 16th with a time of 2:07.72.
Notarangelo was also the team's top finisher in the mile with a time of 4:25.19. Junior Hunter Heron and Evans also competed in the event with times of 4:29.32 and 4:37.96, respectively.
Sophomores Ander Vera Moleres and Alex Porter finished consecutively in the invitational 5K, finishing 12th and 13th with times of 15:32.82 and 15:36.28, respectively.
Freshman James Hook finished fifth in the open 5K, running a time of 15:45.00. Sophomore Greyson Powell finished with a time of 17:52.71.
Thomas won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.62.
Sophomore Marti Ruiz Barreda finished second in the steeplechase with a time of 9:52.08.
Junior Aubrey Hemphill finished sixth in the hammer throw with a mark of 47.23 meters and seventh in the javelin with a mark of 48.49 meters.
- He also hit a mark of 11.63 meters in the shot put.

Women's Notes:

Freshman Alayah Thomas led the way for Converse in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.16, placing fifth. Sophomore Madison Mateen ran a time of 12.54 in the event and placed ninth.
Junior Jermyra Bethel finished second in the 400 meters with a time of 55.47.
Sophomore Peyton MacMillan took home 12th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:25.90.
Sophomore Hailey Jones ran a time of 21:16.35 in the open 5K. Fellow sophomore Sara Aguiar Torre placed sixth in the invitational 5K with a time of 18:31.25.
Sophomore Kennedy Wright placed third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.20.
Freshman Ines Pierrefitte was the Valkyries' top finisher in the steeplechase with a time of 11:57.04 in second place. Junior Paisley Stepp finished third with a time of 11:58.68. Junior Mackenzie Crandell rounded out the Valkyries with a time of 12:29.08 in sixth place.
Graduate student Alana Webster hit a mark of 9.70 meters in the triple jump.
Senior Bella Martin placed third in the shot put with a mark of 11.82 meters. Sophomore Anna Katherine Evatt placed seventh with a mark of 10.92 meters. Sophomore Asha Curry hit a mark of 10.71 meters.
Martin finished first in the hammer throw with a mark of 47.71 meters. Evatt placed second with a mark of 43.02 meters. Curry placed 10th with a mark of 34.42 meters.
Junior Kamille Cunningham placed second in the heptathlon with a score of 3,823. Senior D'Asia Thomas placed third with a score of 3,518.
