SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University Men's and Women's Track teams kicked off their indoor season on Saturday at the JDL College Kickoff Classic in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Womens Notes:

The women broke five school records.

Eseose Okoduwa broke three school records; 7.62 in the 60m which is an NCAA provisional mark and school record, 25.36 in the 200m which is a school record, and 18'2.5" in the long jump which is a school record.

Bella Martin became the number one in the conference in the weight throw and had a school record of 15.60(51'2.25").

Kamille Cunningham became the second fastest 60m sprinter in Converse history in her first 60m race of her career opening with a time of 7.75

Dasia Thomas finished in the meet clearing the high jump in 5'0.5".

Thomas and Cunningham were ranked first in the Conference.

Ashley Sosa broke a long-standing record in the 5000m with a time of 18:10.

Lauren Beatty finished the 5000m with a time of 18:19

Froukje Mons finished the 5000m with a time of 18:47

Sosa, Beatty, and Mons are ranked 1st-3rd in the Conference.

Gavin Mcfadden broke the 60m school record and NCAA provisional mark of 6.84
-
Alain Flores broke the 3000m school record with a time of 8:47.43

Luis Rios Brena broke the 5000m school record with a time of 15:12.81.
Coach Brandon Morton had this to say "This meet was a great opener to see where we are. We have a lot of new athletes, so we got a chance to see what we were good at and what we needed to work on. Overall we are happy with the results. We had a ton of school records, conference leading marks, personal records and 2 NCAA Provo marks. Once we get back some athletes that are missing we like our chances."
The next meet for the Valkyries will be January 13th at the University of South Carolina.
