FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Converse University women's swim team had great individual outings on Saturday afternoon at the Emmanuel Invitational.
Newcomers
Maya Guevara and
Kayla Smith led the Valkyries for the second straight meet. Both Guevara and Smith finished the meet with over 530 points each.
Alison Ludeman finished third on the team, followed by
Kate Hollingsworth and
Kaitlin Williams.
In the first event of the day, the Valkyries 200 Medley Relay A team composed of
Mayle Iwanski,
Ember Hill,
Maya Guevara and
Kayla Smith finished just off the podium with a fourth place finish. The team finished with a total time of 1:55.19. The Converse B team made up of
Gabriella Pinheiro,
Kate Hollingsworth,
Hannah Huante and
Juli Ganim finished in ninth place in the event.
In the 100 free event,
Valerie Perez finished in 10
th place and
Kaitlin Williams finished in 11
th place for the Valkyries.
In the 200 free event,
Alison Ludeman finished seventh overall with a time of 2:04.57.
Hannah Huante finished in 12
th place and
Marie Durflinger placed 17
th in the event.
Williams led the Valkyries in the 100 back event with an 11
th place finish, followed by a 15
th place finish by Perez and a 16
th place finish by Pinheiro.
In the 100 breast event, all three Valkyrie swimmers posted season best times in the event. Hill posted a top-five finish with a time of 1:12.74, meanwhile Hollingsworth finished seventh overall with a time of 1:13.88.
Liz Klanderman rounded out the event for Converse with an 11
th place finish and a time of 1:15.76.
In the 200 fly event, the Valkyries only entry (Guevara) finished fifth overall with a time of 2:17.58 in the event. In the 50 free event, Ludeman finished seventh overall with a time of 25.59 seconds. Pinheiro finished 17
th overall in the event and Durflinger placed 20
th in the 50 free.
Kayla Smith set a new season best in the 100 free event with a time of 54.97 seconds. Smith's time placed her fifth overall in the event today.
Juli Ganim finished 15
th overall in the event and Durflinger finished 18
th overall in the event.
In the 200 back event, Ludeman finished 10
th overall, Huante finished 11
th overall and Pinherio placed 13
th overall in the event. Hill and Hollingsworth finished in seventh and eighth place in the 200 breast event, while Klanderman placed 11 overall in the event.
In the 500 free event, Williams placed 10
th overall in the event with a time of 5:41.27. Perez finished 14
th overall and
Mayle Iwanski finished 15
th in the event. In the 100 fly event, Guevara finished seventh overall with a time of 59.47 seconds and Smith finished just inside the top-10 with a ninth place finish. Iwanski rounded out the event with an 18
th place finish in the 100 fly event.
In the 200 IM event, the Valkyries had Huante, Klanderman, Ganim and Hill all finished between 13
th-16
th place in the event.
In the final event of the night the Valkyries A relay team of Ludeman, Guevara, Ganim and Smith finished fourth overall in the 200 free relay. The Converse B team composed of Perez, Hollingsworth, Durflinger and Williams placed 10
th overall in the event.
