Track and Field Set New Records at Carolina Challenge

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University Men's and Women's Track teams finish day two at the Carolina Challenge.

Coach Brandon Morton had this to say "The USC challenge was another opportunity for our athletes to get better while on tired legs. We saw improvement from the last meet. After the weekend was over we are now ranked first on the women's side in the 60,200,800, mile, 3000, 5000, 4x4, and high jump, so that's a large majority of the events.

The men's team is coming along great. Luis and Alain are leading our distance crew and Gavin, Dorian, Ryan, and Devron are leading the sprints. They are all in scoring positions with the 4x4 running a huge school record. We still have a lot of work to do and a lot of holes to fill. So we are looking forward to getting back to work this week."

In the Long Jump Eseose Okoduwa finished 2nd (5.53m) and Kamille Cunningham finished 35th (4.27m)

In the 1 Mile Froukje Mons finished 4th with a time of 5:26.66 setting a new personal record
In the 800m Ruth Spijker finished 4th with a time of 2:21.11, Bailey Robinson finished 10th with a time of 2:28.14, and Paisley Stepp finished 12th with a time of 2:31.55
In the 200m Quianna Suber finished 13th (26.11) Jermyra Bethel finished 18th (26.73), and Griffin finished 27th (27.44)
In the 3000m Ashley Sosa finished second with a time of 10:31.48(PR), Kamille Dixon finished 5th with a time of 10:42.44(PR), and Mons finished 10th with a time of 11:00.3.
In the 4x400 Converse's team of Bethel, Suber, Latvia Bracy, and Okoduwa finished 1st with a time of 4:01.59
On Saturday, in the 1 Mile Lauren Beatty finished with a time of 5:16.43(PR) and Spijker finished with a time of 5:16.48.
In the 300m Bracey finished 17th with a time of 43.42
