SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Converse University head field hockey coach
Valerie Clarke announced the signing of 10 freshman for the upcoming fall season.
"These 10 freshmen are a talented class," Clarke said. "Once again, we bring in players from all over, with these 10 representing three countries and four different states. They are going to come in and immediately improve the level and help us reach that next step in our program. They will challenge for time right away, and continue to provide all-around depth that our program needs to have a successful season. More importantly, they are hardworking, great people that fit the culture of our "fhamily" and embody our program's core values."
Samantha Sparks, F, Cazenovia, N.Y.
Competed in Field Hockey, Lacrosse and Basketball in high school. In her final two seasons on the field hockey team, Sparks recorded 10 goals and 9 assists, in lacrosse she recorded 5 goals, 6 assists, 26 ground balls, 9 draw control win and had 4 forced turnovers. Named first-team all-conference in field hockey in 2021 and was a four-time scholar athlete. Played club hockey for Southern Teir Storm, Sparks recorded a pair of goals and one assist.
Sparks is the daughter of Jim and Brenda Sparks, has one brother named Chris. Father played soccer at Cazenovia College from 1993-1997.
Remington Lewis, D, Felton, Del.
Played four years of field hockey and tried out lacrosse as well, played club hockey for Oranje-Gottaloveit. During her senior season, she led her team to their first ever championship game. During her sophomore season she finished second in program history in single season assists.
Lewis is the daughter of Chip and Amy Lewis and has one sister Taylor and one brother Trae.
Muriel "Ellie" Schindler, MF, Darmstadt, Germany
A three-year team captain of the Georg Buchner Schule Darmstadt field hockey team, Schindler also competed in track & field, cross country, swimming and triathlon. Played club hockey for TEC Darmstadt, competed for the Hessian Cup for four consecutive years and won the championship on three different occasions. Won the T4 Regional School Championship in 2019-2020, competed in the South German Cup Championship in 2017-18 and competed in the T4 National School Championships in 2020. Named Player of the match on eight different occasions and was named Player of the Season in 2019-2020.
Schindler is the daughter of Michael and Evelin Schindler and has one sister named Nelly.
Kailee Morris, D, Gloucester, Va.
Played both tennis and field hockey during her prep career in Virginia. Helped Gloucester HS to a Region 5b Championship and was a First Team All-District selection and a Second Team All-Region pick. Played club field hockey for Stick Power Field Hockey.
Morris is the daughter of Roy and Angela Morris and she has a younger sibling named Colby.
Aubree Dorsey, MF, Gloucester, Va.
Played field hockey, soccer and basketball in high school. Was a two-year captain for her club hockey team called Stick Power. Captain of the high school team her senior season, Dorsey was an All-State, All-Region and a two-time All-District selection during her prep career. Dorsey helped her team to a Virginia 5A State Championship her freshman season and helped her team to a State Runner-Up finish during her sophomore campaign. Dorsey concluded her prep career with a Region Championship. Outside of Field Hockey, Dorsey was a member of the HOSA.
Dorsey is the daughter of Dean and Mary Dorsey and has one brother named Noah.
Larissa Stanjeck, MF, Ludwigsburg, Germany
Played club hockey for HC Ludwigsburg, during the 2021-2022 indoor season Stanjeck scored 111 goals with HC Ludwigsburg. Stanjeck also competed in six State Championships, one South Germany Championship, finished fourth in the German Championships, finished second in the Bundesliga Indoor Season and was captain of the youth team.
Stanjeck is the daughter of Peter and Sabine Stanjeck and has one sister named Carina.
Josephine Jense, D, Amsterdam, Netherlands
Played club field hockey for AMVJ for 12 years and won multiple indoor championships.
Jense is the daughter of Niels and Annelieke Jense, has one sister named Noe and two brothers named Tobias and Quinten.
Kiersyn White, D, Milford, Del.
White was a two-year field hockey player at Sussex Tech and was named to the Second Team All-Conference list. Also earned the Afro-American Athletic Hall of Fame Award during her prep career. Played club hockey for Oranje Field Hockey.
White is the daughter of Davon and Jenna White and has one brother named Kasyn.
Kilee Bradeen, F, Bradley, Maine
A three-sport athlete in high school, Bradeen competed in field hockey, basketball and track. Bradeen played club field hockey for the Black Bear Elite. Outside of field hockey, Bradeen was a member of the National Honors Society and graduated with high honors an honors diploma and a STEM diploma.
Bradeen is the daughter of Benjamin and Kimberly Braden.
Madison Shorey, GK, Belmont, Maine
Played four years of field hockey at Belfast Area high school and played club hockey for Black Bear Elite. On the field, Shorey was a 2018 KVAC All-Rookie team member, won the coaches award in 2019, team captain and Miss Maine Field Hockey Finalist in 2021. An All-State and Academic All-State selection in 2021, a First Team All-Conference selection and an All-Academic All-Conference selection as well in 2021. Shorey was high school MVP after the 2021 season and was named to the NFHCA Northern New England All-Region Team selection. Shorey was also named a McMnally All-Star in 2022 and the McMnally All-Star North MVP. Outside of Field Hockey, Shorey was the National Honors Society Treasurer and the Class President. Shorey finished with high honors all four year, won the 2021 DAR Good Citizen Award and was a 2022 AP Scholar with honor.
Shorey is the daughter of Sam and Belinda Shorey and has three sisters, Breanna, Nicole and Morgan.
