McGowan Announces the Signing of Hoffman and Potts

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Converse University head golf coach Patti McGowan officially announced the signing of Jenna Kate Hoffman (St. Stephen, S.C.) and Katherine Potts (Chattanooga, Tenn.) on Wednesday morning.
 
"We're thrilled to welcome Katherine and Jenna Kate to the Valkyries Golf Team!" McGowan said, "Their skills on the course, in the classroom, and their dedication to making a difference off the course make them a perfect fit for our Converse community."
 
Hoffman played four years of varsity golf for Berkeley High School and was a two-time team MVP. The Palmetto State native was also the winner of both the captain award and the STAG award at her high school. Hoffman was an All-Region Selection and was a participant in the North South All-Star Tournament. Hoffman was also an All-Tournament selection for both the Gamecock Invitational and the Holy City Cup.
 
Outside of golf, Hoffman was a member of National Honor Society, National Beta Club and the Student Government Association. Hoffman was also a member of Teacher Cadet National Honor Society and the National Society of High School Scholars. Hoffman was the secretary for both Beta Club and the Senior Class.
 
Hoffman was a Junior Marshal and was selected as a Delegate for Palmetto Girls State. Hoffman is an AP Scholar and received the English Department award along with the Biology, Sports Medicine II and Teacher Cadet Awards.
 
Potts was a multi-sport athlete in high school that competed in golf, hockey, basketball, soccer and speed skating at Girls Preparatory School. Potts was a leader and a top golfer during her senior year for the Bruisers. Potts received the NFHS and TSSAA Student-Athlete Award of Excellence – a prestigious award given to honor remarkable student-athletes who demonstrate exceptional character and sportsmanship in their athletic pursuits.
 
Potts was also a two-time State Qualifier, and helped the team to a runner-up finish at the Hurricane Invitational at Windstone Golf Club. On the Blue Golf Tour – Potts captured a pair of victories and a runner-up finish in 2025.
 
Outside of athletics, Potts was President of the Board Game Club and the Outdoor Club. Potts was also a member of National Honors Society and Spanish Honor Society.
