Smith Announces Six Additions to Women’s Tennis Roster for 2025-26 Season

SPARTANBURG, S.C.  – Following the program's winningest season since the 2018-19 campaign, Converse University head tennis coach James Smith announced the signing of six signees for 2025-26 school year.

Emma Hoskins makes the short trip to Converse from Simpsonville, where she was a three-sport athlete at Greer Middle College Charter High School. She was a three-year letter winner with the cross country team and a two-year letter winner with the track and tennis teams. Hoskins was twice an all-region selection, earning the honors in 2023 at the AA level and again when the Blazers moved up to AAA in 2024. She also helped aid Greer Middle College Charter to region championships during both of those seasons. She was also a member of the Blazers 2021 cross country state-championship team. Off of the court and track, Hoskins was a member of the National Honor Society and Beta Club.

Emmy Humphries also joins the Valkyries from the upstate, hailing from Greenville. A sophomore transfer, Humphries spent her freshman season at Limestone University. Prior to her time in college, she was a multi-sport athlete at Wade Hampton High School, being a six-year letter winner for the tennis team and a four-year letter winner with the softball team. Off the court and diamond, Humphries was a member of student government, Relax for Life and HOSA.

Camille Lacombe is the first of the Valkyries' international signees, hailing from Talant, France. 

Ellie Luppino comes to the Hub City from St. Simons Island, Georgia. Luppino was a four-year letter winner at Glynn Academy, holding down the No. 1 singles position for all four years. During her sophomore year, she posted an impressive 14-5 record and improved even further to 20-4 during her junior year. A two-year varsity captain, Luppino also earned first-team all-region honors twice, was named the team MVP, the 912 Player of the Month and helped lead Glynn Academy to a second-place finish in their region. With her club team, she finished third in the state of Georgia. Off of the court, she was a member of the National Honor Society.

Megan Nuske hails from Medina, Ohio where she was a four-year letter winner for the Medina High School tennis team. She served as a team captain for the Bees and was the Greater Cleveland Conference first singles champion in 2024. She was named the team MVP three times and earned Greater Cleveland Conference Girls Tennis Player of the Year and MVP once. She was twice named an all-county selection. Off of the courts, Nuske was a four-year member of the academic honor roll at Medina High School and twice earned the Stomp Award from Cuyahoga Community College.

Jessie Simpson rounds out the Valkyries' upstate additions, coming to Spartanburg from Greer. A graduate of Greer High School, Simpson was a three-year letter winner with the tennis team and a one-year letter winner with the basketball team. She played No. 2 singles for the tennis team, earning Yellow Jackets' Most Improved Award in 2023-24 and 2024-25 as well as the Team Captain Award. Off of the court she was a member of the National Honor Society, the National English Society, the Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta, Leo Club and HOSA.
