BANNER ELK, N.C. – Doubles play proved to be the difference between the Converse University women's tennis team and the Lees-McRae Bobcats as the pair split singles play and Lees-McRae won 4-3.

With the loss, Converse falls to 9-9 overall and 8-3 in Conference Carolinas play. Lees-McRae improves to 8-6 overall and 5-6 in conference action.

Sophomore Tamanna Panwar and freshman Ellie Luppino won an easy 6-0 victory at No. 3 doubles for the team's only victory of doubles play.

Senior Khushi Kharb followed a first-set loss with a 7-6, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles. She won her second-set tiebreaker 8-6.

Freshman Camille Lacombe won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 5 singles. Luppino won 6-3, 6-0 as the Valkyries and Bobcats split singles play.

Next Up For Converse:
The Valkyries are back in action on Saturday, April 18, as they host the Belmont Abbey Crusaders at the Rose for senior day. The match is set to begin at noon.
