Valkyries Honor Four Seniors on Saturday

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Prior to their Saturday match against the Belmont Abbey Crusaders, the Converse University women's tennis team honored four seniors: Sofia Giraldo-Jimenez, Khushi Kharb, Lais Martins and Laurel Maynor. The Crusaders won the match 6-1.

With the loss, Converse falls to 9-10 overall and 8-4 in Conference Carolinas action. Belmont Abbey improves to 20-7 and 10-2 in conference play.

After the Crusaders swept doubles play, Kharb secured the Valkyries' only point with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles.

Sophomore Romy Rueff won her first set 6-4 at No. 5 singles but ultimately lost the match. Freshman Camille Lacombe forced a third set by winning her second set 7-5, but also ultimately fell by the same score in that third set.

Next Up For Converse:
The Valkyries earned the sixth seed to the Conference Carolinas Women's Tennis Championship. They face off against the seventh-seeded Lees-McRae Bobcats on Wednesday, April 22. The match is set to begin at 5:30 P.M. at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter.
