GREENVILLE, S.C. – For the second time this season, senior
Gavin McFadden was named the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week. He anchored the Valkyries' 4x100 meter relay team that ran a season-best time of 39.85 in the 4x100 meter relay, ranking them tied for first nationally in the event. The other members of the relay team are: sophomore
Dorian Bomar, graduate student
Zephaniah Cox Jr. and junior
Devron Davis. They are tied with the team from Pittsburg State atop the leaderboard and are nearly a tenth of a second faster than the team from Catawba in third.
The Valkyries set both a school and conference record in the process. At the Florida Relays this weekend, they finished ahead of: Miami (Fla.), Mississippi State (B team), Maryland, Liberty, Charlotte, Akron, Florida A&M, Columbia and East Carolina.
