SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University golf team is back in action this coming week at the Conference Carolinas Championship located at Cutter Creek Golf Club in Snow Hill, N.C.
Last time out the Valkyries finished fourth in the Trailblazer Spring Invitational. The Valkyries shot rounds of 335 and 325 to finish with a total score of 660. Converse finished ahead of Mars Hill, Young Harris, Shorter, Glenville State, Savannah State, and Spartanburg Methodist.
Sophomore Ellie Lim Led the Valkyries with a seventh place finish in the tournament. Lim carded rounds of 83 and 78 to finish with a total score of 161. Lizzie Madden finished second on the team and tied for eighth place in the tournament with a total score of 164.
Brooke Haazer finished third on the team and 13
th overall with a total score of 166.
Kali Lantis and
Elle Webber both tied for fourth on the team and 19
th overall with a total score of 171 in the last tournament.
The Valkyries have finished third overall in the last two Conference Carolinas Championship events. Last season, Converse finished just behind North Greenville and King on the Leaderboard. Madden placed third overall in the event last season with a three day score of 226. The then junior was the only player in the tournament to card an under par round, when she posted a 71 on the second day of the event.
In their first Conference Carolinas Championship event, Lim finished 11
th overall last season, Webber finished 27
th overall, and Lantis placed 30
th overall in the event. Haazer finished 22
nd overall in her third Conference Carolinas Championship.
The three day event will start on Sunday morning and conclude on Tuesday afternoon.
