GREENVILLE, S.C.  – With the program's first postseason game ever just hours away, the Converse University softball team made more history by having two players honored as all-conference selections: seniors Riley Lingerfelt and Sydney Watson. Watson earned first team honors while Lingerfelt earned second team honors.

Watson, a senior from Plant City, Florida, becomes the program's first two-time all-conference honoree and the program's first first-team honoree. She led the team offensively with a .420 batting average, seven doubles, 11 home runs, 49 RBIs, 19 runs scored and a stolen base. Her 11 long bombs this season broke her own program record set last season. Watson had the fifth multi-home-run game in program history when she went yard twice against Young Harris on April 5.

Lingerfelt, a senior from Welcome, North Carolina, led the Valkyries in the circle this season, posting a 14-12 record and an 8-6 record in conference play. The senior rise-ball phenom becomes the first pitcher in program history to end a season with a winning record in the circle. This season, she recorded a 3.81 ERA, started 25 games and made 34 appearances in the circle, accumulating 158 innings, leading Conference Carolinas and tossing five more than 2025 Pitcher of the Year Alyssa Poston of Francis Marion. Lingerfelt also led the conference in strikeouts with 173, 67 of which came in conference play.

The Valkyries' first-ever postseason game is set to begin at 1:30 P.M. at Tyger River Park as part of the 2025 Conference Carolinas Softball Championship.
