Game Recap: Softball |

Valkyries’ Season Concludes on Day Two of Conference Tournament

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – After making history yesterday as the first 12 seed to ever win a game at the Conference Carolinas Softball Championship, the Converse University softball team's season has come to an end with a pair of losses on Friday afternoon. Top-seeded Francis Marion defeated the Valkyries 8-0 in six innings and sixth-seeded Chowan defeated Converse 7-2.

Freshman Gracee Stucki was named to the all-tournament team. She is the first Valkyrie in program history to earn that recognition.

Game One: No. 1 Francis Marion 8, No. 12 Converse 0 (6 Inn.)

The Patriots started the game with three runs in the bottom of the first and added one more in the bottom of the third. They scored three more in the bottom of the fourth.

Senior Madison Davis notched Converse's first hit of the game with a lead-off single in the top of the fifth. Fellow senior Angela Tucker picked up the team's other hit in the top of the sixth inning.

Francis Marion walked off the game with a one-out solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Game Two: No. 6 Chowan 7, No. 12 Converse 2

Both teams started off the game with a lead-off triple in the first inning, but Chowan capitalized on theirs and plated a run in the bottom of the first. They added another in the bottom of the third.

Chowan scored another five runs between the fourth and fifth innings.

Converse's only two runs of the day came as senior Kiarra Thomas drove in a run with a no-out double and later came around to score on a two-out error. Chowan held on to win 7-2.
