Swartzel Named CSC Academic All-District

GREENWOOD, Ind. – After helping lead the Converse University softball team to back-to-back postseasons, sophomore Charley Swartzel has been named CSC Academic All-District, as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.

To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. Alternatively, for pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings. Additionally, student-athletes must have sophomore standing both athletically and academically with a 3.50 GPA.

Swartzel, a sophomore from Simpsonville, South Carolina, appeared in 51 of the team's 54 games and made 21 starts. She posted a .239 batting average and a .283 on-base percentage. She also recorded a .973 fielding percentage, the third-highest among the team's qualified fielders.
