GREENVILLE, S.C. – For the first time in the program's 10-year history, the Converse University softball team has qualified for the postseason and will compete in the Conference Carolinas Softball Championship. The appearance follows a season in which the Valkyries won 19 games, 11 of which were in Conference Carolinas play. Both of those marks are program records.
The Valkyries will be matched up with the Southwest Division champions, sixth-seeded Southern Wesleyan, in an opening-round play-in game at 1:30 P.M. on Friday, April 25. The winner will face the third-seeded Barton Bulldogs at approximately 6:30 P.M.
Although the Valkyries are entering uncharted waters, the location of next week's championship is more than familiar to the team: Tyger River Park in Duncan, the site of the team's annual beginning-of-season tournament, the Valkyrie Classic. The Conference Carolinas Championship will be contested on the green pod, right next to Tyger River Stadium, the site of Converse's regular-season home games.
Tickets are on sale now at this link. Live video will be available via the
Conference Carolinas Digital Network. Live stats for the Valkyries' first game will be available at
