Valkyries Head to Johnson City For Clash With SAC Powerhouses

Converse Notes:
  • Converse enters the game after most recently splitting their midweek doubleheader with Clark Atlanta on Wednesday, Feb. 5. The Valkyries won game won 7-0 and lost game two 10-1 in five innings.
  • Senior ace Riley Lingerfelt tossed her third career no-hitter in game one's win over Clark Atlanta. She is currently second in ERA in Conference Carolinas for pitchers with over 10.0 innings pitched with a 1.46 ERA. She leads Conference Carolinas in innings pitched at 33.2.
  • Senior utility player Sydney Watson leads the team in batting average and slugging percentage among qualified players with a .423 average and .577 slugging percentage.
  • Watson and freshman Charley Swartzel are the only Valkyries to start all 8 games this season. 
Carson-Newman Notes:
  • Carson-Newman opened the season with three run-rule victories before dropping both games to Lee University on Wednesday, Feb. 5.
  • The Eagles were selected to finish fourth in the South Atlantic Conference preseason poll. They received one first-place vote.
  • Carson-Newman had four student-athletes selected to the Preseason All-SAC teams: senior shortstop Hayden Dye (first team), junior outfielder Santana Anderson (second team), senior first baseman Brooklyn Lucero (second team) and junior catcher Macauley Bailey (second team).
Emory & Henry Notes:
  • Emory & Henry enters the weekend 2-2 after dropping two games to Tiffin and defeating Conference-Carolinas foe Lees-McRae twice. In their season debut, Emory & Henry defeated Lees-McRae 32-1.
  • The Wasps were selected to finish 10th in the South Atlantic Conference preseason poll.
  • Emory & Henry had two players selected to the Preseason All-SAC teams: senior non-pitcher utility player Danielle King (first team) and senior utility player/pitcher Olivia Yates (second team).
Tusculum Notes:
  • Tusculum enters the weekend 4-0. They opened the season by defeating Bluefield State in two games on Sunday, Feb. 2. The Pioneers then defeated Lees-McRae in a pair of extra-innings games on Tuesday, Feb. 4.
  • The Pioneers were selected to finish sixth in the SAC preseason poll.
  • Tusculum had one player selected Preseason All-SAC: graduate designated player Danielle Jason. 
UVA Wise Notes:
  • The Cavaliers enter the weekend as their 2025 season debut.
  • UVA Wise posted a 16-30 record last season and went 6-18 in SAC play.
  • The Cavaliers went 4-4 against Conference Carolinas opponents last season.
  • Sophomore outfielder Adyson Gibson, freshman shortstop Taylor Clay and freshman pitcher Olivia Shockley were named players to watch by the South Atlantic Conference.
