WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Converse University track and field team began the 2025 Conference Carolinas Indoor Championships with five podium finishes for the women's team and three for the men. Converse won one event on both the men's and women's sides. The men dominated the 60 meters and the 200 meters prelims, taking up four of eight spots in tomorrow's finals.

Men's Notes:

• The Valkyries distance medley relay team kicked off the meet with a bronze medal in the event with a time of 10:31.82.
• Two Valkyries finished second and third in the 60 meter hurdle prelims. Sophomore Nick Tibolla recorded an 8.24 in heat two while freshman Dre'Kevan Thomas finished in heat one with a time of 8.14. Senior Donald Medley just missed qualifying for the finals with a ninth-place finish.
• A quartet of Valkyries qualified for the finals in the 60 meters: sophomore Dorian Bomar, graduate student Zephaniah Cox Jr, junior Devron Davis and senior Gavin McFadden. They finished first (6.77), third (6.82), fifth (6.81) and eighth (6.86). 
• Freshman Alex Porter finished the 5,000 meters in fifth place with a time of 15:30.36.
• The same four Valkyries that qualified for the 60 meters qualified for the 200 meters. They finished second, third, fourth and sixth. McFadden took second with a 21.78, Davis finished third with a 22.00, Cox Jr. finished with a 22.04 and Bomar finished with a 22.08.
• Three Valkyries placed in the long jump: junior Kaden Gamble won the event with a distance of 7.17 meters, sophomore Omarion Belton finished second with a distance of 7.12 meters and freshman Camden Ranieri finished fifth with a distance of 6.62 meters.

Women's Notes:

• Freshman Kennedy Wright started off her first conference meet with a third-place finish in the 60 meter hurdles prelims, with a time of 8.96 in heat three.
• Sophomore Jermyra Bethel and freshman Triniti Muldrow-Green both qualified for the finals in the 400 meters. Bethel finished second with a time of 58.21 and Muldrow-Green finished with a 1:00.56, over two full seconds behind Treneice Grimes of Shorter who finished in ninth.
• Senior Eseose Okoduwa was the lone Valkyrie to qualify for the 60 meters and 200 meters finals. She finished the prelims in third with a time of 7.63 in the 60 meters and sixth in the 200 meters with a time of 25.25.
• Senior Ashley Sosa and junior Lauren Beatty finished third and fourth in the 5000 meters. They posted times of 18:19.78 and 18:27.22 respectively.
• Okoduwa was also the lone Valkyrie to place in the long jump. She finished fifth with a distance of 5.49 meters.
• Junior Bella Matin finished second in the weight throw with a distance of 16.91 meters.
• Freshman Allison Irick finished second in the pole vault with a mark of 3.22 meters.
• Wright finished first in the pentathlon while sophomore Kamille Cunningham finished third.
