Davis Brings Home 2026 60-Meter Dash National Title

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – For the first time in program history, a Converse University Valkyrie stood atop the podium at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships as freshman Grace Davis won Saturday's 60-meter dash national championship race.

"I am thankful for the opportunity to run at a national event. My goal is to win the Olympics, and this meet gets me closer to my goal," stated Davis postrace. "I thank Jesus Christ for all my achievements and accolades. I can't wait to see what else the Lord has in store."

Davis, a freshman from Greenville, took home gold with a time of 7.26, breaking her previous best collegiate time of 7.27. Central Missouri junior Grizell Scarlett finished in second with a time of 7.33.

"Grace had an amazing race when it mattered most," stated Converse University Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Brandon Morton. "I'm truly blessed to coach her and the rest of the men and women of Converse track & field. She continues to elevate our program in a way that would make anyone associated with her proud. Converse has a national champion and her name is Grace Davis."

Davis also became the first student-athlete in Conference Carolinas history to bring home an indoor national championship.

She was also the top finisher in yesterday's preliminary rounds, running a time of 7.30, six hundredths of a second faster than any other competitor.
