CARY, N.C. – The Converse University men's swim team moved up to third place in the overall standings, while the women's swim team held strong in fourth place on Day 2 of the Conference Carolinas Championship Meet.
The men's 200-free relay team of
Louis Milczynski,
Joey Lilley,
Keith Rogers, and
Henry Stockton were the highlight of the night for the Valkyries as they won the event championship by a final time of 1:22.12. Converse edged out the University of Montevallo by five one hundredths of a second to secure the first event championship of the meet.
The evening session started off with the women's 500 yard free event, Katie Beebe and
Julia Beebe finished in seventh and eighth place respectively in the event. In the men's 500 yard free event, freshman
Henry Stockton came into the final's event with the best preliminary times from the morning session. The freshman just barely missed his first individual championship as he came in second with a time of 4:31.89.
Micah Lesley finished 12
th in the 500 yard event with a time of 4:49.52, while
Luigi Ballivian finished 16
th in the event with a time of 4:56.32.
Katie Mullen finished 15
th in the women's 200 IM event with a total time of 2:18.34, while freshman
Alison Ludeman had her first career podium finish in the women's 50-yard free event. Ludeman finished sixth overall in the event with a time of 24.16.
Sofiya Gobora,
Mayle Iwanski, and
Ansley Young all finished the 50 yard free event in 14
th, 15
th, and 16
th place respectively.
In the men's 50-yard free event,
Louis Milczynski finished third overall with a time of 20.69 seconds.
Joey Lilley finished a few tenths of a second behind in fourth place with a time of 20.86 seconds.
Keith Rogers just missed the podium with a seventh place finish and a time of 21.02, and
Daniel Merzthal finished 12
th in the event with a time of 21.34 seconds.
The women's 200-yard free relay team of
Sofiya Gobora,
Alison Ludeman,
Julia Beebe and Katie Beebe finished just off the podium with a fourth place finish. The quartet finished with a time of 1:38.49.
