The Series
This will be the second all-time meeting between Converse and Montevallo. The Falcons won the only other meeting 19-16 in 2018.    
 
Converse Notes
  • Converse is coming off one of their best seasons in recent memory. The Valkyries finished the 2024 season with an 8-9 record and a 4-5 record in Conference Carolinas action.
  • Last season, the Valkyries qualified for the Conference Carolinas Championships for the second consecutive season and fell in the first round to Young Harris.  
  • As a team the Valkyries had 254 goals, 149 assists and boasted a .798 shots on goal percentage. Converse also recorded 295 ground balls, caused 165 turnovers and won 253 draw controls.
  • Second Team All-Conference selection Hailey Obenchain returns for her junior season at Converse. Last season, Obenchain recorded 38 goals, 51 assists, and set a school record for points in a season with 89.
  • On the defensive side, Samantha Sparks returns for her third season after being named to the All-Conference Third Team a season ago. Sparks led the team with 27 caused turnovers and finished tied for third on the team with 31 ground balls.
  • The freshman trio of Becky Reinhard, Izzy Eby and Megan Holleran return for their sophomore seasons in the Purple and Gold. Reinhard led the team with 60 goals last season, and also had a team best 109 shots and 90 shots on goal. Eby finished second on the team with 44 goals and 19 assists, while Holleran finished second on the team with 37 assists, 58 draw controls, and led the team with 47 ground balls.
  • Gencie Coan, Karter Lauer, and Ainsley Cua also return for the Valkyries this season. Coan led the team with 65 draw controls, she also had 39 goals, 19 assists, and 58 points. Lauer registered 23 goals, 7 assists and 27 draw controls during her sophomore campaign. Cua helped anchor a back line with Sparks from a season ago. The rising junior finished with tied with Sparks for 31 groundballs and finished with 15 caused turnovers.
  • Reagan Collins returns in goal for the Valkyries this season, the senior went 8-8 last season as the Valkyries primary goalie. In 1,020 minutes of game action, Collins registered 158 saves and posted a .378 save percentage.
  • Eby, Obenchain and Reinhard were all named to the Conference Carolinas Preseason Players to Watch list.
Montevallo Notes
  • Montevallo went 4-11 overall last season and 1-4 in Gulf South Conference action. The Falcons went 0-6 on the road a season ago, but went 1-1 against Conference Carolinas programs.
  • Montevallo scored 160 goals last season, recorded 64 assists, and had a .816 shots on goal percentage. The Falcons recorded 366 ground balls, forced 172 turnovers, and won 180 draw controls last season.
  • Mikaela Barbieri led the team with 29 goals, Anja Kuys is second on the team with 27 goals, and Kiley Shea is third on the team with 26 goals.
  • Kuys led the team with 11 assists last season, Jodi Morawiec and Lily McCormick both finished tied for second with 10 assists each.
  • Kuys led the team with 38 total points, Morawiec and Barbieri finished tied for second with 33 points each last season.
  • Kuys led the team with 50 ground balls last season and 54 draw controls. Ashley Shen finished second on the team with 48 ground balls and led the team with 44 caused turnovers.
