SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse swim team is back in action this Saturday morning when they take on the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears at 10:30 a.m. inside the Montgomery Student Center.
The Converse men's swim team is off to a 3-3 start this season and a 1-2 record in Conference Carolinas action. Last time out, the Valkyries lost 142-108 to King University. For his performance against the Tornado,
Tyler Leal was named both Conference Carolinas Swimmer of the Week and Conference Carolinas Men's Swimming Freshman of the Month.
Other swimmers that highlighted the King meet were
Henry Stockton,
Alexander Kuznetsov, and
Joey Lilley. Stockton finished with three event wins, one second place finish and one third place finish, tallying 21 total points. Kuznetsov finished with two event wins, one second place finish, and tallied 13 points. Lilley finished with four second place finishes and tallied 10 total points.
The Converse women's team is off to a 4-2 overall record and a 2-1 record in Conference Carolinas action. Last time out, the Valkyries defeated King 168-77 before the Holiday break. Milly Byrne highlighted the meet and was named Conference Carolinas Swimmer of the Week for her efforts. The senior finished with a pair of wins and a second place finish in the pool. Byrne won the 50-yard back event and the 200-yard back event against the Tornado.
Other athletes that were highlighted in the last meet were
Julia Beebe,
Alison Ludeman, and
Sofiya Gobora. Beebe helped the Valkyries win four total events and a third place finish, tallying 21 total points. Ludeman finished with three total event wins, one second place finish and one third place, to tally 16 total points. Gobora finished with three event wins and a pair of third place finishes, tallying 15 total points.
The Lenoir-Rhyne men's swim team is 3-3 overall this season and they are 0-2 on the road this year. The Bears are coming off a 136-47 win over Wheeling on January 4
th. The women's team is 2-4 overall this season and 0-2 on the road this season. The Bears are coming off a 104-82 win over Wheeling on January 4
th.
