Softball Set to Celebrate Five Seniors Prior to Saturday’s Doubleheader with Belmont Abbey

Converse Notes:

The Valkyries enter the game after dropping both games of their final nonconference doubleheader to Carson-Newman on Monday. Converse set team records for runs scored against the Eagles in both games.
Converse's 16 hits in game two is the team's third-most this season. Junior Sydney Watson and sophomore Karleight Crabill accounted for three hits each in the back half of the twinbill.
In the team's previous doubleheader against Chowan, senior Madeline Modica notched five hits and five RBIs across the two games, including a two-RBI home run in the first inning of game one.
The Valkyries will honor five seniors prior to Saturday's doubleheader: utility player Maggie Griffis, infielder Makenna Hill, utility player Emily Ingle, catcher and infielder Madeline Modica and middle infielder Kayla Rocha. The ceremony is set to begin approximately 30 minutes prior to first pitch.

Belmont Abbey Notes:

The Crusaders enter the weekend 16-13 after sweeping a home doubleheader with UNC Pembroke. Belmont Abbey travels to take on Tusculum on Friday, April 12 at noon before heading to Spartanburg on Saturday.
As a team, Belmont Abbey hits .302, has a team ERA of 4.97, and a fielding percentage of .961. Those stats rank them seventh, 10th and fifth in Conference Carolinas respectively.
Senior Hallie Mele leads the team in batting average amongst qualified players. She also leads the team in doubles (7), slugging percentage (.551), walks (16), on-base percentage (.495) and tied for the team lead in triples (1).
Fellow senior Addison Yoder leads the team in the circle with 19 appearances, 14 of which are starts. She has a team-high 87.2 innings pitched and a team-low ERA of 4.31 amongst qualified pitchers. Yoder has thrown five of the team's seven complete games and their only shutout.
