Softball Begins Conference Play Against North Greenville and UNC Pembroke

Converse Notes:
  • Converse enters Wednesday's matchup after sweeping the Claflin Panthers on Sunday.
  • Junior Riley Lingerfelt struckout 12 batters in game one against Claflin. It is her sixth game of ten or more strikeouts this season, extending her school record.
  • Sophomore Ayellad Howard leads the team offensive with a 0.481 batting average. The Santa-Clartia native also leads the team in runs scored (28), triples (4), and hits (37).

North Greenville Notes:
  • The Crusaders enter Wednesday's doubleheader with a 16-8 record and on a six-game win streak. They most recently swept Johnson C. Smith on Saturday, March 9.
  • Freshman Emily Blackwell leads North Greenville in batting average among qualified batters with a 0.472 average. The freshman also leads the team in runs scored (21) and second among Crusaders in RBIs (17). She has started all 24 of the team's games. 
  • North Greenville is led in the circle by sophomore Karley Green. She has made 15 appearances and 12 starts. Among qualified pitchers, Green leads the team with a 3.56 ERA.
  • The Crusaders have the third-best fielding percentage in Conference Carolinas at 0.964.

UNC Pembroke Notes:
  • The Braves last competed on Friday, March 8 in which they split a doubleheader with Francis Marion. After falling 5-2 in a 10-inning game, they defeated the Patriots 7-4.
  • UNC Pembroke has a team ERA of 4.23 and sophomore Summer Bullard leads the Braves individually in ERA with a 3.47 ERA.
  • Redshirt junior MaKenna Sibbett has started all 27 games for the Braves. She leads the team in batting average with a 0.360 average. She also leads the team in doubles (7) and is fourth in RBIs (8).
  • UNC Pembroke has a 0.951 fielding percentage.
