Box Score WISE, Va. – Converse University freshman Izzy Eby recorded her first career hat trick on Friday night as the Valkyries fell 19-8 to UVA Wise.

With the loss, Converse falls to 0-1 on the season, while UVA Wise improves to 1-1 on the year.

The opening seven minutes of action were relatively quiet for both teams on the offensive side of the ball. Then with 8:16 to play in the opening quarter, Kaylea Paterson scored the first goal of the game for UVA Wise. The Cavaliers opened the game with four consecutive goals, before Haley Obenchain found Izzy Eby for the Valkyries first goal of the match.

The freshman wasted no time in scoring a second time as she found the back of the net less than a minute later. Following a UVA Wise goal, Eby completed her first quarter hat trick with an assist from Megan Holleran. In the final moments of the first quarter, Eby found Karly Driscoll for the Valkyries fourth goal of the game.   

In the second quarter of action, UVA Wise opened the period on a 5-0 run before Holleran found Gencie Coan for the Valkyries fifth goal of the contest. The Cavaliers ended the period on another 5-0 run and led 15-5 at the halftime break.

Coming out of halftime the Valkyries offense began to make a comeback against the Cavaliers. With 8:38 to play in the period, Coan found Holleran for the first goal of the half. Five minutes later
Obenchain found the back of the goal for her first goal of the year. Moments later, Obenchain scored her second goal of the game, then in the final seconds of the third period Holleran scored her second goal of the contest.

In the final quarter of action, the Cavaliers outscored the Valkyries 2-0 and put an end to the Converse rally.
