ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Converse University golf team finished 17^th overall at the World Golf Invitational this weekend at the Slammer & Squire Course at the World Golf Village.
 
The World Golf Invitational was loaded with nationally ranked teams as five out of the top-15 programs were represented this week, including No. 1 Nova Southeastern and No. 2 Rollins. It was No. 11 Lynn who took the tournament, however as they registered an 884 total score to win by 10-strokes over their nearest competitor.
 
The Valkyries battled through the wind and the rain on the opening day of competition, shooting team rounds of 338 and 329. On the final day of competition, the Valkyries shot 340 as a team to finish 17^th overall.
 
Individually, freshman Ellie Lim led the team with total score of 245. Lim shot rounds of 85, 78 and 82 to lead the Valkyries in almost every round on the golf course. Freshman Kali Lantis finished second on the team with a total score of 252.
 
Brooke Haazer finished third on the team with a 254, following rounds of 84, 68 and 84. Junior Lizzie Madden recorded a total score of 259 to finish fourth on the team and Elle Webber rounded out the teams top-five with a final score of 262.   
 
The Converse golf team will be back in action on February 19^th and February 20^th at the Battle at Hilton Head.
