SPARTANBURG, S.C. – For the fourth time in program history the Converse University golf team will be competing in the World Golf Invitational hosted by Flagler at the Slammer & Squire Course at the World Golf Village.
During the fall season the Valkyries had a successful run with a first-place finish at the King University Invitational in September. The Valkyries ended the fall season with an eighth-place finish in the Converse Fall Invite by Founders FCU.
The Valkyries starting for the upcoming tournament will be Lizzie Madden, Ellie Lim,
Kali Lantis,
Elle Webber and
Brooke Haazer. The five Valkyries will navigate the 6,049 yard, par-72 course against a total of 17 teams on Monday and Tuesday. The athletes will golf a total of 54-holes between the two days, with 36-holes being played on Monday.
Out of the 17 teams participating in the tournament, eight of them are nationally ranked. The nationally ranked Division II teams are No. 1 Nova Southern, No. 2 Rollins, No. 5 Flagler, No. 10 Barry, No. 11 Lynn, No. 13 Saint Leo, No. 19 Limestone and No. 21 Lander. The NJCAA's No. 7-ranked team, Eastern Florida State College, will also be competing.
The remainder of the field includes Montevallo, Embry-Riddle, Tampa, Palm Beach Atlantic, Florida Southern, West Florida and Mount Olive. Live stats for the tournament can be found on Leaderboard King.
