Box Score COLUMBIA, S.C.  – With a sweep of doubles play and victories at the bottom three courts, the Converse University women's tennis team (3-4) defeated the Benedict Tigers (5-7, 4-4 SIAC) by a final score of 5-2. Converse also picked up a singles victory at No. 2 singles.

With only five members of the team, Benedict conceded No. 3 doubles by default. That paved the way for graduate student Tonya Glogowski-Watson and sophomore Sofia Giraldo-Jimenez to secure the doubles point with a 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles while sophomore Khushi Kharb and senior Natalie White secured the sweep by winning at No. 2 doubles by the same score.

Due to the Tigers playing shorthanded, they conceded No. 6 singles, giving sophomore Lais Martins a default victory and the Valkyries a 2-0 lead.

Sophomore Laurel Maynor put the Valkyries one point away from victory as she cruised to a 6-1 victory in consecutive sets at No. 5 singles.

White secured the Converse victory by dropping just one game on her way to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles. Keeping with the form of the first two Valkyries to finish, Kharb wrapped up the Valkyries singles wins with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles.

The Valkyries return to the courts on Sunday, March 3 as they kickoff their 2024 home slate against the Emory & Henry Wasps at 1 P.M.
