The Series
This will be the sixth all-time meeting between Converse and Catawba dating back to the 2012 season. Converse is 3-2 all-time in the series and 2-0 against the Catawba Indians at Weisiger Stadium. This will be Catawba's first trip to Spartanburg since the 2014 season, that season the Valkyries won 7-5. These two teams last met during the 2022 season, when Catawba got the better of Converse with a 21-6 home win.

We're excited for our home opener and getting to play in front of our home crowd for the first time during the 2024 season," Converse head lacrosse coach Lauren Frost said. "We're returning a talented core group of players and we've added depth and skill at every position with this freshman class. With such a young group of athletes we've been working on team chemistry and it started to show in our first game of the season against UVA Wise. We're excited to see this team grow and mature over the course of this season." 
 
Converse Notes

• It's been nearly a week since the Valkyries last played. Converse is 0-1 on the season and is coming off a 19-9 loss to UVA Wise on Friday evening.
• Converse will be looking for their first home opening win since the 2021 season, that year the Valkyries defeated Erskine 17-11 to start the home campaign.
• The Valkyries are averaging 9.0 goals per game this season, 23.0 shots per game and 17.0 shots on goal per game this year.
• Converse has hauled in 19 ground balls this season, forced 14 turnovers and won 12 draw controls. The Valkyries also have a .667 clear percentage on the season.
• Izzy Eby leads the team with 3 goals, Megan Holleran and Hailey Obenchain both have two goals each on the year. Eby and Holleran are also tied for the team lead in points with four each, while Holleran leads the team with two assists and five draw control wins.
• Reagan Collins leads the team in goal with eight saves on the season and has a .296 save percentage on the year.

Catawba Notes

• Catawba is 0-2 this season with losses to both North Greenville and Belmont Abbey. Most recently the Catawba Indians lost 19-7 to the Belmont Abbey Crusaders on Saturday afternoon.
• Catawba is averaging 7.0 goals per game this season, 24.5 shots per game and 19.0 shots on goal per game.
• The Indians have hauled in 36 ground balls, forced 17 turnovers and won 28 draw controls this season. They also have a 68 percent clear rate this season.
• Joey Baillie, Abby Shuren and Mary Sorvillo all have a team high three goals this season. Baillie, Helena Cronemiller and Jenna Hirvonen are all tied for the team lead with one assist each.
• Baillie leads the team with four total points, followed by Shuren and Sorvillo with three points each. Evie Kauserud leads the team with 7 ground balls and Mackenzie Mullan leads the team with 8 draw control wins.
• Evie Kauserud is the starting goalie for the Indians this season and has made 19 total saves. Kauserud has a 37 percent save rate on the season as well.
