SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University acrobatics and tumbling team picked up an event win in the tumbling events before ultimately falling 251.02-259.245 to Coker on Friday afternoon.
Event 1 – Compulsory
Converse started strong, posting scores of 8.9, 9.65, 9.3, and 7.85 in the compulsory Acro, pyramid, toss, and tumbling heats. The Valkyries go into the next event 35.7-36.75 trailing the Cobras.
Event 2 – Acro
Coker pulled ahead in the second event, scoring higher than Converse in all three heats to put up a 28 compared to the Valkyries' 23.15. The Cobras captured the 64.75-58.85 lead going into the third event.
Event 3 – Pyramid
Heat one of the pyramid events the Valkyries were able to pull ahead with a score of 9.2. In heat two the Valkyries scored 8.95. During heat three both teams finished with a score of 9.4. Even with these high scores, the Valkyries were down 27.45-28.
Event 4 – Toss
Trailing 86.3-92.75, The Valkyries scored 8.8, 8.15, and 7.85. The Valkyries head into the tumbling trailing 24.8-25.85.
Event 5 – Tumbling
The Valkyries shined in the tumbling event, outscoring the Cobras 52.7-50.025. Ayanna Manning's aerial pass and Krissa Gaines' Open pass had scores of 9.625 and 9.175, respectively, to help Converse to a 52.7-50.025 event win.
Event 6 – Team
With a start value of 101.62, Coker scored 90.620 to end the meet with an overall score of 259.245. Converse started their team event with a 102.12 start value, the Valkyries scored a total of 87.220 points to end the meet with an overall score of 251.02.

The Valkyries will travel to Mars Hill to take on the Lions and the Wingate Bulldogs on Friday, February 16th at 6:00 p.m.
