NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Converse University Acrobatics and Tumbling team went 1-1 on Wednesday evening with a win over Newberry and a loss to Mars Hill.
Mars Hill defeated both teams with a score of 240.310, Converse finished second with a total score of 216.285 and Newberry finished third with a total score of 165.355.
In the compulsory event the Valkyries finished with scores of 6.80, 9.30, 9.30 and 3.60. Converse finished with a compulsory event score with 29.00. Mars Hill finished the compulsory event with a score of 34.10 and Newberry finished with a score of 21.00.
In the Acro event the Valkyries finished with scores of 9.25, 8.75 and 9.00, finishing with a total event score of 24.20. Mars Hill finished with an event score of 28.05 and Newberry finished with an event score of 22.60.
In the Pyramid Heat the Valkyries had their best performance of the night, recording a 9.00 in the Inversion Pyramid, and a 9.45 in both the Synchronized and Open Pyramid heats. Converse finished with a total event score of 27.90. Mars Hill won the event with a scored of 29.10, while Newberry finished third with 25.05 points.
In the toss event, the Valkyries recorded scores of 8.50, 6.90 and 9.00. Converse finished with a total event score of 24.40. Mars Hill won the event with a total score of 27.15 and Newberry finished third with a total score of 23.40.
In the tumbling event, the Valkyries recorded a 7.250 in the duo pass, a 6.600 in the trio pass, a 2.900 in the quad pass, and 8.700 in the aerial pass, a 6.775 in the 6 element pass and a 7.850 in the open pass. In total the Valkyries finished with a 40.075 in the tumbling event. Mars Hill won the event with a score of 47.950 and Newberry finished third with a time of 27.675.
In the team event the Valkyries scored a 70.71, Mars Hill posted a score of 73.96 and Newberry finished with a score of 45.63.
The Valkyries will be back in action on March 19
th at Lander University. The meet is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.
