Valkyries Head to North Carolina For Winston-Salem College Kick-off

"I'm excited to see where the team is at," stated Converse University Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Brandon Morton. "The athletes have worked hard all fall so it is a great opportunity to see where our fitness is at."

Men's Notes:

Converse was selected fifth in the Conference Carolinas Indoor Preseason Poll. They received one first-place vote.
Junior Devron Davis finished second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.14 and third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.64 seconds.
Junior Gavin McFadden is a two-time all-conference honoree. He was third team all-conference in the 200 meters in 2024 and second team all-conference in the 60 meters in 2023.
Sophomore Dorian Bomar has a personal best of a 6.87 in the 60 meter dash. Freshman Zephaniah Cox has run a personal best of 6.83 in the event.
Sophomore Alain Flores finished third in the Conference Carolinas Cross Country Championships this fall, and during Indoor last season finished 8th in the mile run event.
Sophomore transfer Nick Tibolla enters the meet as the fourth-ranked hurdler at the kick-off.

Converse was selected second in the Conference Carolinas Indoor Preseason Poll. The defending champions received four first-place votes.
Senior Eseose Okoduwa returns for her fourth season as the defending Indoor Conference Carolinas champion in the long jump and 200 meter dash events. The Palmetto State native was also the runner-up in the 60 meter dash event last season at the conference championships.
Okoduwa won the 60 meter dash at the 2023 Winston-Salem College Kick-off.
Junior Lauren Beatty returns for her third season on the Valkyries' track & field team. A season ago, the then-sophomore was named the Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year. Beatty won the conference championships in the mile and 5,000 meter events, the Virginia native was also the conference runner-up in the 3,000 meter event. To finish off the cross country season, Beatty finished 13th at the Conference Carolinas Cross Country Championship.
Junior Bella Martin was also named a player to watch by the Conference Carolinas office. Martin had a breakout season a year ago and won the Indoor Championship in the weight throw event.
Sophomore Kamille Cunningham will lead the high jumpers as the No. 2 ranked high jumper at the meet. Junior D'asia Thomas and Senior Janyia Pinckney will round out the Valkyries' high jumpers crew.
Sophomore Jermyra Bethel won the outdoor 400 meter at the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Championships. She looks to carry that momentum into the indoor season where she is ranked third of the 51 runners registered for the 400 meter at this weekend's event.
