SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University swim teams are headed to Danville, KY., this weekend to compete in the Centre College Speedo Midseason Invite.
The Valkyrie swim programs are coming off a pair of lopsided victories over Lees-McRae. The women's team defeated Lees-McRae 146-33 and the men's team defeated the Bobcats by a final score of 117-51.
Henry Stockton earned Men's Conference Carolinas Swimmer of the Week honors for his performance in the pool against the Bobcats. The freshman won both the 200 and 500 yard freestyle events, and also helped the 200 freestyle relay team to a first place finish against Lees-McRae.
Other key contributors on the men's side included
Alexander Kuznetsov who won the 50 yard free event,
Louis Milczynski who the 200 fly event and
Tyler Leal who won the 100 free event. The men's team also finished second or third in a variety of events against the Bobcats, and also won both relay events in the process.
On the women's side, both 400 medley relay team and the 200 free relay team both finished first against the Bobcats. Katie Beebe finished as the Valkyries top performer in the pool against the Bobcats, the senior won the 200 fly event and the 50 free event. Meanwhile, her sister
Julia Beebe won the 500 yard free event and the 400 yard individual medley event.
The women's team won nearly every event against Lees-McRae in their last meet. Joining the Beebe sisters with event wins were
Mayle Iwanski in the 200 free event,
Alison Ludeman in the 100 free event, Milly Byrne in the 200 back event and
Laureen Roussel in the 200 breast event.
This weekend the Valkyries will be competing against Centre College, Colorado College, University of the Cumberlands, Lenoir-Rhyne, Berry, Midway, Campbellsville, and Transylvania. A recap and results of the day's events will be posted nightly on
