SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University women's golf team is headed to Bristol, Tenn., to compete in the King University Women's Invitational on Monday and Tuesday afternoon.
The Valkyries have had a lot of success at The Golf Club of Bristol, winning the invitational last season over nine other teams. The Valkyries also took home individual medalist honors and runner-up honors last season. Last year, the Valkyries shot a 307 in the opening round and then a 298 in the second round to finish 29 strokes ahead of their nearest competitor.
Helena Noel (Tampa, Fla.),
Elizabeth Madden (Blythewood, S.C.),
Brooke Haazer (Burlington, Ontario, Canada) and
Eleanor Lim (Delaware, Ohio) will all be making their second start of the season. Noel finished inside the top-25 of the Meredith Insurance tournament to lead the Valkyries, while both Madden and Lim finished second and third on the team respectively. Haazer finished with the best turnaround on the team after she dropped 10 strokes from round one to round two.
Elle Webber (Huntsville, Ala.) will be making her first collegiate start this week for the Valkyries. Webber is an accomplished prep golfer from the Yellowhammer State and helped her high school to a 5A Alabama State Tournament Championship.
Converse will face Belmont Abbey, Tusculum, Emory & Henry, Trevecca Nazarene, Barton, Maryville, Emmanuel and Young Harris.
