SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Converse University head softball coach
Jackie Huff and athletic director Jenn Bell announced the hiring of new assistant softball coach Tanner Bullard. He served as a graduate assistant coach at UNC Pembroke prior to the 2022 and 2023 softball seasons.
Bullard first served as a student assistant coach for the Braves during his time as an undergraduate student beginning in July 2019.
"I am extremely thrilled to add Tanner to our staff," stated Huff regarding the newest addition to her coaching staff. "I am excited to bring someone in who already has a wealth of knowledge about Conference Carolinas. His experience at UNCP under two competitive and successful coaches gives him the perfect tools to come in and be an immediate asset to our program to make long-term lasting impacts on our student-athletes."
Bullard, a native of Whiteville, joined the UNC Pembroke coaching staff after graduating from Southeastern Community College where he was heavily involved on campus. While at SCC, Bullard served one term as president of the Student Government Association (SGA), while also sitting on the SCC Board of Trustees for one year as well. Amid his busy work in the world of academia, he also volunteered as an assistant coach with the softball program.
A graduate of Whiteville High School, he was a regular volunteer in the athletics department, including stints in support of the basketball and softball teams, while also donating his time as a volunteer coach for the Central Middle School softball program. For all of his efforts, including those as a standout member of Whiteville High School's marching band, he was the recipient of the principal's Student Service Award as a senior in 2017.
