NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced their annual All-Region honors for the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field season. Converse University had a program record five athletes earn the honor after an outstanding season.
Jordan Brown,
Kamille Dixon,
Phoebe Myers,
Eseose Okoduwa and
Ruth Spijker all received the accolade after helping the Converse women's track & field team to a runner-up finish at the Conference Carolinas outdoor championships.
Spijker, a freshman from Sint Pancras, Netherlands was named to the All-Region team for both the 800 and 1500 meter events. Spijker finishes her rookie campaign for Converse with a pair of Conference Carolinas Freshman of the year titles, five Conference Carolina event championships, three All-Region honors and six first team All-Conference honors.
Myers, a junior from Cambria Heights, N.Y., earned a spot on the All-Region list in both the 100-meter hurdles and in the high jump events. Myers finishes her junior campaign with a pair of Conference Carolina event championships, 3 All-Region honors, two first team All-Conference honors and two second team All-Conference honors.
Brown, a junior from McCormick, S.C., earned All-Region laurels in the high jump event. Brown a dual-sport athlete for the Valkyries won the high jump championships at the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Championships back in April.
Okoduwa, a sophomore from Columbia, S.C., earned All-Region accolades for her performance in the 100-meter dash. At the Conference Carolinas outdoor championships, Okoduwa set a pair of school records on her way to a pair of podium finishes in both the 100 and 200 meter events. In the 200-meter event, Okoduwa finished second with a time of 24.60 and in the 100-meter event, Okoduwa placed third with a time of 11.73 seconds.
Dixon, a junior transfer from Katy, Texas, earned All-Region honors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Last month, Dixon won the Conference Carolinas championship in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11.41.16. Dixon finished her junior campaign with a pair of first team All-Conference selections and a second team All-conference selection in cross country.
