Valkyries Pick up Team Win at Hub-City Invite

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University track and field team competed in Newberry College's Hub-City Invite on Friday, April 7 where the women's team finished 1^st overall (77) and the men's team placed 5^th (38).

Converse Notes:

Anna-Fidelia Rusing placed 1^st in the 3,000-meter run at 11:15.83 followed by Piper Grant who placed 2^nd at 11:25.32. Jetta Turner finished 4^th in the event at 12:01.22.
On the men's side of the 3,000-meter run, Jaxon Wright placed 2^nd at 9:17.18 and Ethan Lee finished 4^th at 9:27.53.
Luis Rios Brena placed 2^nd in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:01.45.
Ruth Spijker took home gold in the 1,500-meter race, finishing with a time of 4:44.97. Kamille Dixon placed close behind in 3^rd at 4:59.99 and Bayley Robinson finished 9^th at 5:17.29.
Sebastian Dozier and DreQuan Guyton finished back-to-back in the men's 1,500-meter run in 9^th and 10^th place, respectively. Dozier finished at a time of 4:17.61 and Guyton finished at 4:17.88.
Freshman Shanyia Grey took home her first collegiate 1^st place finish in the 400-meter dash, clocking in at a time of 58.58 seconds. On the men's side, freshman Isaac Gilmore placed 7^th at 53.00 seconds.
In the women's 100-meter dash, Madison Griffin placed 3^rd at 12.83 seconds and Aaliyah Morgan finished 6^th at 13.18 seconds.
Spijker also took home 1^st place in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:22.98. Dixon placed 3^rd at 2:28.32 and Robinson came in 4^th at 2:34.83.
Guyton finished 8^th in the men's 800-meter dash, finishing at a time of 2:09.52.
Elijah Hall and Caden Gamble finished one after the other in the men's long jump at 2^nd and 3^rd, respectively. Hall posted a mark of 6.27 meters and Gamble posted a mark of 6.19 meters.
