Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BELMONT, N.C. – The Converse softball team dominated the Belmont Abbey Crusaders in game two, picking up a 12-3 win. The Crusaders were victorious in game one, however, defeating the Valkyries 12-0. The split moves Converse to 13-25 overall and 4-10 in Conference Carolinas action and Belmont Abbey is now 11-21 overall and 6-10 in Conference Carolinas play.
 
Game 1 Notes:
Maggie Griffis recorded the only hit for the Valkyries during game one as she singled down the left field line during the top of the 5^th inning. Rylee Summers pitched 3.0 innings and Serrah Ballard pitched 1.0 innings.
 
Game 2 Notes:

• Bottom 3 – B. Presley got on base by getting hit by a pitch and scored as S. Pon doubled down the left field line, sending Presley home.
• Top 4 – Chesney Miles singled up the middle to get Converse on base and advanced to second as Karleigh Crabill singled through the left side. Miles scored and Crabill advanced to second as AJ Albano singled down the left field line. As Griffis flew out to right field, Crabill moved to third and Albano moved to second. Crabill was able to score as Ballard grounded out to second base. Kayla Rocha followed with a single through the left side, sending Albano home to put the Valkyries' third run on the board. Madeline Modica reached first on an error by Belmont Abbey's shortstop which pushed Rocha to second. The two then advanced to the next bases and then scored as Grace McKinney singled up the middle to make it 5-1 in Converse's favor.
• Top 5 – Albano started off the inning by singling to center field, followed by Griffis singling to left field. Griffis advanced to second on the throw and Albano advanced to third. Abby Bardonaro was then put in to pinch run for Griffis. Bardonaro advanced to third and Albano scored as Rocha hit a bunt single. Grace McKinney followed by singling to center field which allowed both Bardonaro and Rocha to score, making it 8-1 Valkyries. Ayellad Howard, pinch hitter for Makenna Hill, singled which pushed McKinney to second. Miles followed with her own single to left field, moving McKinney to third and Howard to second. McKinney and Howard both scored, making it 10-1, as Crabill singled to left field.
• Bottom 5 – H. Mele doubled to left field for the Crusaders and advanced to third as Presley was thrown out at first. Pon was then hit by a pitch and advanced to second as M. Sprinkle flew out to center field. M. Allison then singled and advanced to second as both Mele and Pon scored to keep the game alive, but still in the Valkyries favor 10-3.
• Top 7 – McKinney opened up the inning with a home run to give Converse its 11^th run of the game. Hill then singled to right field, stole second, stole third and scored on an error by Belmont Abbey's catcher as the Valkyries picked up the 12-3 win over the Crusaders.

McKinney led the Valkyries overall with four at bats, two runs, three hits and five RBIs. Victoria Dichio pitched all seven innings with three strikeouts.
 
Next Up:
The Valkyries will return home on Wednesday, April 12 to face Erskine College.
