SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University men's tennis team will look to end a three-game losing skid on Saturday afternoon, when they host North Greenville in the Conference Carolinas season opener at the Converse University Tennis Courts.
This will be the 10
th all-time meeting between Converse and North Greenville dating back to the 2013 season. The Crusaders hold a 5-4 edge in the overall series but Converse has won the last four meetings dating back to the 2018 season. Last season, the Valkyries won 4-3 against the Crusaders to clinch a spot in the Conference Carolinas Tournament.
Converse Notes:
- Converse is 2-6 overall this season with a pair of wins against Mars Hill this season. The Valkyries are coming off a 7-0 loss to Georgia College last Saturday.
- Last time out, the Valkyries lone doubles win came at the No. 1 doubles court, as the tandem of Tonya Glogowski-Watson and Khushi Kharb defeated Georgia College's top pair 6-3.
- Khushi Kharb and Marleen Prinz currently lead the team with three wins each in singles play this season. Lais Martins is second on the team with two wins this year.
- In doubles action, the pairing of Glogowski-Watson/Kharb is 5-3 on the season at No. 1 doubles and have won their past five matches. The No. 2 pairing of Martins/Prinz is 2-4 on the year and they lost their last match.
North Greenville Notes:
- North Greenville is 1-8 overall and 0-1 in Conference Carolinas matches this season. Erskine is coming off a 7-0 loss to Erskine on Wednesday afternoon.
- Larissa Berger leads the team with four wins in singles competition this season playing primarily at the No. 2 and No. 3 singles courts. Jhovana Brena is second on the team with a 3-8 singles record splitting time at the No. 1 and No. 2 singles courts.
- In doubles action the top two pairs for the Crusaders each have one win on the season.
