SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University women's tennis team is back at home tomorrow afternoon with a match against Emmanuel College.
Dating back to the 2015 tennis season the Valkyries are 1-6 against the Lions. Emmanuel defeated Converse 6-1 last season, with
Tonya Glogowski-Watson winning the lone singles court point at the No. 2 singles flight.
Converse Notes:
- Converse is 3-11 overall this season and 0-4 in Conference Carolinas action. The Valkyries are coming off a 5-2 loss to Francis Marion on Saturday afternoon.
- Last time out the Valkyries picked up wins from Khushi Kharb and Lais Martins at their respective singles courts.
- Khushi Kharb leads the women's team with a 7-5 record in singles action, while Lais Martins is second on the team with a 4-9 record.
- The Valkyries No. 1 doubles team of Glogowski-Watson/Kharb are 10-4 overall this season and 3-1 in Conference Carolinas play. The Valkyries No. 2 pairing of Martins/ Marleen Prinz is 3-4 overall on the season.
Emmanuel Notes:
- Emmanuel is 7-6 overall and 3-0 in Conference Carolinas play this season. The Lions have won five straight matches. However, Emmanuel is 0-4 in away matches this season.
- The Lions are coming off a 7-0 win over King on Saturday afternoon. Emmanuel won the doubles point and started the match off 3-0, with the Tornado forfeiting courts at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions. The Lions picked up straight set wins at the other four courts to clinch the sweep.
- Soleny Gonzalez leads the team with 6 singles wins on the season, Alejandra Guerrero is second on the team with 5 wins and three players are tie for third on the team with four wins each in singles play.
- The top doubles pairing of Darja Chistov/Sabina Roua is 6-0 overall and 3-0 in Conference Carolinas action this season. Two other pairings are tied for second on the team with an identical 3-2 record.
