LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Converse track and field programs competed at the Liberty Open on February 4 where several school records, personal bests and top Conference Carolinas times and marks were posted heading into the championships.
Women's Notables
- Eseose Okoduwa placed 4th in the 60-meter dash, running the second fastest time in school history at 7.80 seconds. She also placed 6th in the 200-meter dash at a school record time of 25.74 seconds.
- Shanyia Grey finished 7th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.92 seconds.
- In the 800-meter run, Ruth Spijker placed 10th at a time of 2:24.21. Spijker also ran the 1-mile run, placing 6th overall with a time of 5:15.79, the second-best time in Converse history. Lauren Beatty followed closely behind at 5:20.58 and Kamille Dixon at 5:25.33. Spijker now leads the conference in the event with Beatty sitting closely behind in second.
- Beatty broke the Converse school record in the 3,000-meter run by six seconds. Her time of 10:38.30 helped her to a 2nd place finish in the event. Dixon finished 10th in the same event at a time of 11:02.33.
- In her first race for Converse, Anna-Fidelia Rusing finished 1st in the 5,000-meter run, coming in at a time of 19:21.26 which is the 4th fastest time in the conference standings. Jetta Turner placed 3rd with a personal best time of 20:12.41.
- D'Asia Thomas placed 5th overall in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.49 seconds.
- The 4x400-meter relay race finished in 4th. The team which consists of Grey, Latavia Bracey, Aaliyah Morgan and Krishayla Boyd finished with a time of 4:13.33.
- Phoebe Myers won the high jump with a mark of 1.55 meters. Thomas had a mark of 1.45 meters for a 9th place finish in the event.
- In the triple jump, Nashayla Warren was 9th overall with her mark of 10.53 meters.
- Bella Martin placed inside the top 15 in shot put, throwing for a mark of 10.23 meters. Martin also threw in the weight throw, finishing 8th overall with a 14.10-meter mark. This mark is a personal best for Martin and the No. 2 mark in the Converse record books.
Men's Notables:
- Gavin McFadden had the top time of 6.95 seconds going into the finals of the 60-meter dash. McFadden placed 2nd in the finals, posting the same time as he did in the prelims. He also raced in the 200-meter dash, finishing 10th at a time of 22.50 seconds.
- Donald Medley posted a time of 9.18 seconds in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles.
- Jaxon Wright ran a personal best time of 16:18.20 in the 5,000-meter run.
- Elijah Hall broke the Converse school record in the long jump with his mark of 6.02 meters. He also competed in the triple jump, finishing 12th at a mark of 12.75 meters.

The Converse track and field programs will head to the Conference Carolinas Indoor Track and Field Championships in Winston Salem, N.C. The championships will take place on February 18-20 at the JDL Fast Track.
