Women’s Tennis Set to Play Limestone on Sunday Afternoon

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University women's tennis team will host Limestone University on Sunday afternoon at the Converse University Tennis Courts.  
 
This will be the 15th all-time meeting between Converse and Limestone dating back to the 2008-09 tennis season. The Valkyries will be looking to break a 12-match losing streak against the Saints dating back to the 2011 season. Last season, the Valkyries lost 6-1 to the Saints in Gaffney, S.C.  
 
Converse Notes:
  • Converse is 2-4 overall this season with a pair of wins against Mars Hill this season. The Valkyries are coming off a 4-3 loss to Augusta on Thursday afternoon.  
  • Last time out, the Valkyries took the doubles point to start off the match with wins at both the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles courts. In singles action the Jags evened the match up with a win at the No. 1 singles court. Augusta took the lead with a win at the No. 5 singles flight, but it was short lived as Marleen Prinz tied the match with a win at No. 3 singles. Luiza Estrada picked up a win at No. 2 singles but the Valkyries lost both matches at the No. 4 and No. 6 singles flights.    
  • Khushi Kharb and Prinz are tied for the team lead in wins this season with three each. Lais Martins is second on the team with a pair of wins on the year.  
  • The Valkyries top doubles tandem of Tonya Golgowski-Watson/Kharb is 3-3 this season, while the No. 2 doubles tandem of Martins/Prinz is 2-3.
 
Limestone Notes:
  • Limestone is 0-2 this season with losses to Garner-Webb and Erskine. The Saints are starting the spring season with six consecutive road matches.
  • In a 4-3 loss to Erskine on Thursday afternoon, lost the doubles points and posted wins on the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5 singles courts.
  • The Saints top two singles players, Anamaria Kiszner-Luca and Maria Cecilia-Gomez are 1-1 this season. Limestone's No. 5 singles player Sara Valentini is 2-0 on the season.
