Women’s Tennis Looks to Complete Season Sweep of Mars Hill

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University women's tennis team will host Mars Hill on Saturday afternoon at the Converse University Tennis Courts.

This will be the ninth all-time meeting between Converse and Mars Hill dating back to the 2008-2009 season. Converse has won the last four matchups to even the series at 4-4, surprisingly this will be the Valkyries and the Lions first spring season meeting since the 2016-17 season. The Valkyries are 4-0 against the Lions in Fall season matches but 0-4 against Mars Hill in matches played during the Spring season.

Converse Notes:
  • Converse is 1-3 overall this season with their lone win coming against Mars Hill during the Fall season. The Valkyries have lost three straight, however, their last two opponents have been Division I schools in Wofford and Gardner-Webb.
  • Last time out, the Valkyries top tandem of Tonya Glogowski-Watson and Khushi Kharb snuck out a tiebreak win at the No.1 doubles court.
  • Kharb leads the team with a pair of wins in singles this season, while Lais Martins, Marleen Prinz and Natalie White all have a win on the singles court this season.

Mars Hill Notes:
  • Mars Hill is 5-1 this season with their lone loss coming to Converse back in October. The Lions have wins against Johnson C. Smith, North Greenville, Lees-McRae and a pair of wins against Young Harris.
  • In their lone win of the spring season, the Lions defeated Young Harris 4-3. Mars Hill swept the doubles point and then went up 2-0 with a win at the No. 6 singles court. Young Harris tied the match with a pair of wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 singles courts. Wins at the No.1 and No.4 singles courts clinched the match for Mars Hill over Young Harris.
  • Elana Mackey is 6-0 this season, playing primarily at the No. 1 singles court. Maria Razzetta and Ines Rodriguez are both second on the team with a 5-1 singles record.
  • In doubles action the tandem of Amanda Kadiri and Elana Mackey is 6-0 this season at the No.1 doubles court. The Lions No.2 doubles tandem of Ines Rodriguez and Lauren Schave is 3-2 on the year.
