GREENVILLE, S.C. – The conference office officially unveiled the preseason poll earlier today and the Valkyries were picked to finish second. The preseason poll was voted on by the league's head coaches.
Mount Olive was picked to finish atop the poll with 96 points. Converse placed second with 89 points followed closely by UNC Pembroke who placed third with 84 points. Southern Wesleyan placed fourth with 70 points, North Greenville placed fifth with 65 points, and Belmont Abbey placed sixth with 54 points.
King was picked to finish seventh with 42 points followed closely by Lees-McRae who was placed eighth with 40 points. Erskine was placed ninth with 27 points, Emmanuel placed tenth with 21 points followed by Barton who placed eleventh with 17 points.
Coach Brandon Morton had this to say "Our men and women are looking forward to the indoor season. Although the preseason rankings show we are perceived to be better than we were last year during the indoor season, our student-athletes have worked hard and I think we are all looking forward to proving that the rankings are inaccurate on both sides."
Converse's trio to watch is headlined by Junior Eseose Okoduwa. Next up is Senior Phoebe Myers who was the 2023 High Jump Conference Carolina's Champion and was on the 60m Hurdles Second Team All-Conference Carolina's. Rounding out Converse's trio to watch is Sophomore Ruth Spijker who was the 2023 Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year and the 800m and the Mile Conference Carolina's Champion.
