Two Valkyries Sit atop of the Conference Carolinas Standings After Finn Pincus Invitational

SALEM, Va. – The Converse University track and field programs competed in Roanoke College's Finn Pincus Invitational on Friday and Saturday, January 20 and 21.

Women's Notables:

Phoebe Myers finished 2^nd in the high jump at a mark of 1.58 meters, a season best and a new school record. Myers also competed in the 60-meter hurdles, coming in 3^rd place with a personal best time of 8.94 seconds. Myers' mark and time puts her at the top of the standings in the Conference Carolinas. D'Asia Thomas ran in the 60-meter hurdles, too, placing 7^th with a time of 9.52 seconds, ranking her 4^th in the conference.
Conference Carolinas Track Athlete of the Week Lauren Beatty placed 3^rd in the 5,000-meter run at a time of 18:28.71, a new school record. Beatty becomes the first female to run the indoor event in under 19 minutes in Converse school history. Her time ranks her at the top of the Conference Carolinas standings. Kamille Dixon followed in 7^th place with a time of 19:45.43, a time that puts her at 3^rd in the conference standings, while Jetta Turner had a time of 20:46.68 in the run.
Eseose Okoduwa had a 5^th place finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.22 meters. Okoduwa placed 6^th in the 200-meter dash followed by Krishayla Boyd in 7^th place. The 6^th place finish was a time of 26.76 seconds while the 7^th place time was 26.80 seconds.
Freshman Bella Martin posted a mark of 12.66 meters in the weight throw.
Ruth Spijker came in 8^th place in the 1-mile run at a time of 5:33.60 and in 9^th place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:28.56. Bayley Robinson finished close behind at a time of 2:30.64.
In the 400-meter dash, Quiana Suber had a 9^th place finish at a time of 1:02.57. Shaniya Grey and Latavia Bracey also raced in the event, finishing back-to-back of each other at times of 1:03.38 and 1:04.53, respectively.

Men's Notables:

Gavin McFadden had a 7^th place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.00 seconds.
Luis Rios Brena placed 5^th overall in the 5,000-meter run with his time of 16:08.14, a new school record. Jaxon Wright finished the event at a time of 16:34.61.
In the triple jump, Elijah Hall finished 6^th with a mark of 12.58 meters.
