BRISTOL, TENN. – The Converse University women's golf team shot a 307 on Monday afternoon at Par 71 Bristol Country Club and currently sits in first place after the opening round.
As a team the Valkyries had the most pars in the tournament at 52 and they are currently tied for the team tournament lead with eight birdies in the opening round. The Valkyries also led the tournament in Par 4 scoring (4.36 avg) and finished second in Par 3 scoring (3.25 avg).
Ava O'Sullivan and
Elizabeth Madden both shot a 74 to lead the Valkyries on Monday. Both Madden and O'Sullivan are currently tied for second overall in the tournament. Madden leads the tournament in Par 3 scoring averaging two under par, meanwhile O'Sullivan leads the tournament in Par 5 scoring at two under par. Madden and O'Sullivan tied for the team lead with three birdies each, while O'Sullivan came in a tie for second on the team in total pars with 11.
Helena Noel snuck into the top-10 with a 79 in the opening round, Stina Voight currently sits in a tie for 14
th after her first collegiate round with an 80 and
Phai Inpan is a stroke back of Voigt and is tied for 18
th overall. Voigt leads the team in Par 4 scoring (4.18), while Noel leads the team and the tournament with 12 pars in the opening round.
