Valkyries Host Chowan in Midweek Skirmish

The Series:
This will be the ninth meeting all-time between Converse and Chowan. The Valkyries hold a 5-3 overall record against the Hawks, but the Chowan has won the last two meetings. Last season, the Hawks defeated the Valkyries 15-6 at Chowan.   
 
Converse Notes:
  • The Valkyries are 0-10 overall this season and 0-4 in Conference Carolinas play. Converse is coming off an 19-2 loss to Newberry on Saturday afternoon.
  • Libby Stevens and Cassidy O'Neill both scored in the loss on Saturday, while freshman goalie Reagan Collins made a career high 17 saves against the Wolves.
  • Converse is averaging 8.2 goals per game and 22.2 shots per game this season. The Valkyries have recorded 119 total ground balls, 69 caused turnovers, 114 draw control wins and have a 61 percent clear rate on the season.
  • O'Neill leads the Valkyries offense with 27 goals scored this season, Brenna Everette is second on the team with 17 goals and Stevens is third on the team with 15 goals scored. Stevens leads the team with 12 assists and is tied with O'Neill for the team lead with 27 points.  
  • Ciriaca Petitto leads the team in ground balls (32) and caused turnovers (13). Madalynn Brunner has started all ten games in goal for the Valkyries this season, Brunner has made 97 saves on 334 shots faced.
Chowan Notes:
  • Chowan is 1-7 overall and 0-4 in Conference Carolinas play this season. The Hawks have lost four straight games and they are 0-3 in road games this season.
  • The Hawks are coming off an 11-10 road loss to Lees-McRae on Saturday afternoon. Leia Cabradillia led the team with a hat trick, while Charity Brown and Morgan Grosse both contributed multi-goal performances.
  • Chowan is averaging 9.3 goals per game this season and 23.5 shots per contest. The Hawks have recorded 151 ground balls, caused 86 turnovers, won 96 draw controls and have a 69 percent clear rate this season.
  • Cabradillia leads the team in goals scored (20), points (25) and is tied for the lead in ground balls with 12. Grace Taylor has scored 18 goals this season and leads the team with 49 total shots and 41 shots on goal. Charity Brown leads the team with 12 assists and 38 draw control wins.
  • Three different goalies have started for Chowan this season, with Kora Turner seeing the most action with 240 minutes of game time. Turner has made 46 saves on 124 shots faced.
