SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University men's and women's tennis teams will host Lees-McRae on Tuesday afternoon at the Converse University Tennis Courts.
The women's tennis team will honor
Valentina Aparicio,
Gracie Pall and
Maria Belen Vendrell prior to the match against the Bobcats. This season, the Valkyries are 7-9 overall and 4-4 in Conference Carolinas action this season. Converse will look to kick a three-game losing skid on Tuesday afternoon, the Valkyries are coming off a 5-2 loss to Belmont Abbey on Wednesday afternoon.
In singles action the women's team has four players with at least five wins on the season,
Tonya Glogowski-Watson (7),
Luiza Estrada (6),
Maria Belen Vendrell (6) and
Valentina Aparicio (5). On the doubles side of the draw the Valkyries top tandem of Glogowski-Watson and Estrada are 6-9 overall and 4-4 in conference play this season.
The Converse University men's tennis team is currently ranked No. 75 nationally by the ITA and they are 9-8 overall on the season. The Valkyries 5-3 Conference Carolinas record has Converse in the conversation for a top-four finish in their first official season. Converse is coming off a heartbreaking six-hour marathon loss to #25 Belmont Abbey on Wednesday afternoon.
Merlin Bellet and
Gregoire Legrand have been the Valkyries top options in conference play this season. Both players have 7-1 records in conference play, while Bellet is 12-3 overall at the No. singles flight.
Paul Berrouet and
Cameron Davies are an even 7-7 on the season at their respective flights.
Louka Queguiner and
Leopold Morel have both posted a trio of wins in conference action this season.
In doubles action the Valkyries top tandems of Queguiner/Morel and Bellet/Berrouet are both 7-2 overall and 6-2 in Conference Carolinas play. The Valkyries No. 3 duo of Davies/Legrand is 5-7 overall and 3-4 in conference action this season.
